About New York Theatre Barn
Under the direction of Joe Barros (Producing Artistic Director) and Reed Prescott (Executive Director), New York Theatre Barn is a not-for-profit theatre company dedicated to the investigation, development, and advancement of new evocative works. Since its inception in 2007, NYTB introduced a monthly springboard event for emerging writers and performers (NYTB at The Duplex, NYTB in the D Lounge), presented concerts and staged readings (including Big Fat Cat with Bruce Vilanch and I Married Wyatt Earp with Tovah Feldshuh, directed by Graciela Daniele) and produced fully realized productions (including Wood at NYMF with Tony Award winner Cady Huffman). Recent productions have included the musical parody Hey, You Know What Movie Would Make a Good Musical? at the Julia Miles Theatre, Bridget Bailey’s one-woman play Child of Hungry Times, winner of Outstanding Production of a Solo Show (Planet Connections Theatre Festivity) and Untitled 3D, a film/live performance fusion, which explored the process, product and perspective of three musical theatre writing teams and their eclectic new musicals (including Punk, Group Therapy and the Innovative Theatre Award winning Like You Like It). NYTB has been a launching ground for challenging new work including Adam Gwon’s Ordinary Days which is currently running at Roundabout Theatre Company (inaugural reading directed by Joe Barros), Katie Thompson's R.R.R.E.D. played the New York Musical Theatre Festival (originally directed by Joe Barros) and Bobby Cronin's B.R.A.T.T. Camp was featured at La Red Music Theatre over the summer. New York Theatre Barn is a member of the National Alliance for Musical Theatre.
